QNA engages Innovantes to develop India's first open data platform offering attitudinal insights on news and national affairs.

Challenge

The media sector across the world serious challenges today. With paid news, censorship, polarized debates and sensationalism at an all-time high, the credibility of the news and media has taken a huge hit. To add to it, the global tide of fake news just keeps flowing. Creation of 'echo chambers' on social media further worsens the problem, making online debates nearly impossible. With over half a billion new consumers expected to come online in the next decade, the client wanted to create a first-of-its-kind independent citizen engagement platform to get the ‘pulse of the nation’ on national issues. The client believed offering an open platform with community tools that lets users engage with the latest news and generate attitudinal insights on any major topic of interest would solve the credibility aspect of information.

The Solution

Innovantes worked with the client to do in-depth research of the topic and came up with a digital platform around content, analytics and community. The new platform allowed citizens to ask questions of their interest on the open platform and do a comparative data analysis across issues and time across different groups.

Content

Users can engage with fellow citizens by asking closed-ended questions on national affairs and topics with an option to link it with news items.

Analytics

The platform offered analytics at the question and issue level. Users can view data in the form of response distribution, deviation, time- series and by demographic cuts.

Gamification

Points for participation, viewing similarity quotient with friends, creating groups and following others on the platform added to gamification. In addition, the platform architecture offered complete anonymity at the question level responses.
